JOURNALING 101
I CAN SHAKE OFF EVERYTHING IF I WRITE, MY SORROWS DISAPPEAR, MY COURAGE IS REBORN. ANNE FRANK.
It is said a picture paints a thousand words. Well, I can’t paint, okay, I’ve never actually tried but writing a thousand words has changed my life. Writing has healed my soul, given me strength when I felt I couldn’t go on, allowed me to breathe and helped me re-group. It has given my life direction and purpose when I saw only darkness. Writing has helped me express myself when I felt frozen to the ground, when I was screaming inside my head and no one could hear me. It was my way of tracking daily accomplishments that may have seemed minuscule to some but were major milestones for me.
Journaling has been a constant in my life. It has revealed so many things about the real Tammie Leonard. It keeps my life on track and helps me to focus, time and again it brings me back to task. It has a way of intertwining my dreams and goals.
Through many difficult life experiences, I journal and through my journals I can trace my personal growth. I have journaled about nothing and everything never knowing where it would take me. I just knew that writing gave me an amazing place to escape to. My journals were like the coat of many colors. Just like the coat’s colors, each journal contains something different but together they brought me to this place where I feel incredible peace. You too can enjoy the amazing benefits of journaling. You don’t have to be a writer as you just need a few minutes or any minutes and a pretty little notebook. (Excerpt from, Thoughts to Give You Wings-author Tammie Leonard)

Growing requires tools, tools that help us learn about our true selves. Writing out whatever comes to mind can give us a powerful picture in our minds, giving us deeper insight into the mysteries of our fears, hopes, and dreams that drive us. And from this, we can build on what it is that would make our spirits soar.
